
$278 Million Hyundai Parts Plant Opens In Statesboro
A massive manufacturing plant that will supply stamped metal parts for the new Hyundai Metaplant just down Interstate 16 officially opens today in Bulloch County.
AJIN USA is the company behind the new 850,000-square-foot facility just south of Statesboro at the intersection of I-16 and Highway 301.
Atlanta-based KBD Group, the design-builder of the new AJIN USA plant, describes the new facility as a game-changer for the industry featuring:
- A stamping and press area dedicated to automotive part production, ensuring precision and quality in every component manufactured.
- A spacious warehouse designed to accommodate raw materials, optimizing storage and logistics operations for seamless workflow.
- The inclusion of shipping and receiving docks for the transportation process, facilitating the movement of goods in and out of the facility.
The Statesboro Herald says the new AJIN plant, which will employ up to 600 workers, is one of three tier-one suppliers manufacturing parts for the new Hyundai Metaplant in Bulloch County
SMP Nutra Moves Manufacturing From New York To Florida
A New York-based manufacturer of nutraceutical dietary supplements and vitamins has moved their headquarters and manufacturing operations from New York to Largo, Florida just west of Tampa, according to Tampa Bay Business and Wealth.

SMP Nutra manufactures a wide range of vitamins and supplements for adults, children and pets in a variety of formats including capsules, tablets, softgels, gummies and powders.
According to the company’s website, SMP Nutra’s manufacturing facility is capable of producing the following quantities of vitamins and supplements daily:
- 47 million tablets
- 32 million capsules
- 12 million gummies
- 470,000 bottles
- 180,000 kilos of powder
Blue Bird To Expand Electric Bus Manufacturing In Georgia
This week Macon-based Blue Bird Corporation announced the company has been selected to receive an $80 million federal grant in order to expand the company’s manufacturing of electric buses.
According to the company’s official press release, Blue Bird will use the federal funds to convert a prior manufacturing site for diesel-powered motorhomes in Fort Valley, Georgia into a 600,000-square-foot EV manufacturing facility.
Founded in 1927, Blue Bird is the only U.S.-owned and operated school bus manufacturer in the United States. The company is recognized as the leader in electric school buses with nearly 2,000 zero-emission vehicles on the road today.

Archer Aviation Receives $55 Million Boost From Stellantis
An industry leader in the electrification of aviation received a major financial boost this month from one of the world’s leading automakers.
Archer Aviation announced an additional $55 million investment from Stellantis following Archer’s achievement of its transition flight test milestone last month.

Archer Aviation is putting the finishing touches on its 350,000-square-foot eVTOL manufacturing facility in Covington, Georgia on a 100-acre parcel adjacent to Covington Municipal Airport.
The company’s stated goal is for “Stellantis to mass produce Archer’s eVTOL aircraft as its exclusive contract manufacturer.” When Archer’s Covington plant is fully operational, the company anticipates having the capacity to produce 650 aircraft per year.
The company’s newest model with 12 propellers and multiple seats for commuters was recently on public display, and Simple Flying says the company has set a goal of over 400 test flights before the end of this year.
In other Archer Aviation news this month, the company just announced a partnership with Southwest Airlines to develop air taxi networks at the 14 California airports that Southwest serves.
Metal Printing Systems Poised To Transform Maritime Manufacturing
This week a Florida-based company gave a sneak preview of their new technology that they believe could revolutionize the world of maritime manufacturing.
Fonon Corporation officially announced that their Bulk-To-Shape (BTS) additive manufacturing technology “will empower shipbuilders and MRO professionals with a groundbreaking new technology to produce parts, tools and components.”
Orlando-based Fonon has developed a family of specialized 3D metal printing systems for industrial and manufacturing purposes across various industries including aerospace, construction, defense and energy.
