
Skanska Chosen By Lee Health To Build $435 Million Hospital
This week Lee Health, one of the largest not-for-profit health systems in Florida and the Southeast, announced that it has chosen Sweden-based construction and development company Skanska to build a new hospital and medical office building in Fort Myers.
According to the official press release, the new Fort Myers hospital will be built at an estimated cost of $435 million and is scheduled to be delivered in the fourth quarter of 2027.
The new facility will feature a five-story hospital with over 400,000-square-feet of indoor space, a 125,000-square-foot medical office and ambulatory surgery center, and a central energy plant powering both facilities. The project scope also includes over a dozen operating rooms and specialty clinics for orthopedics, spine, rheumatology care and infectious diseases.
In 2017, Skanska completed the Golisano Children’s Hospital of Southwest Florida for Lee Health. The seven-story tower built in conjunction with GATES Construction was built to withstand a Category 5 hurricane.

Novare Group Joint Venture Delivers New Atlanta Community
This week Novare Group, an Atlanta-based commercial real estate development company, announced the successful delivery of SpringSide, a new Class A, 226-unit residential community in Sandy Springs.
SpringSide consists of a total of eight buildings divided into two-story carriage houses as well as three and four-story apartment structures with units ranging from 438 to 1,269 square feet and 271 parking space. Shared amenities at SpringSide include a fitness center, resort style pool, coworking lounge, outdoor grilling station and dog spa.
Novare Group completed the SpringSide project in conjunction with JV partners BCDC and PointOne. Earlier this month, Novare and BCDC delivered the 306-unit Sugar Hill community in Sugar Hill, Georgia. Capstone Building Corp Announces Florida Expansion
This month Alabama-based Capstone Building Corp., a leading general contractor with over $1.7 billion constructed in multifamily housing developments, announced the expansion of their corporate footprint in the Sunshine State.
Prior to the announcement, Capstone had already completed student housing projects in Gainesville and Tallahassee and the 296-unit Sur Club in St. Petersburg which officially opened in 2021.
The Birmingham Business Journal published the official announcement noting that the Tampa office will be Capstone’s second regional office outside of their home market of Birmingham. Previously, Capstone opened their first regional office in Huntsville in 2022.
In a follow-up Facebook post, Capstone noted that Chase Pattillo will head up the new Tampa office and added:
“Chase and the Capstone team are excited to embark on this next chapter, delivering top-quality multifamily projects — including traditional, affordable, build-to-rent, senior and student housing across the nation.”

Jim Chapman Construction Delivers New Residential Community

Lane Construction Wins $190 Million Contract For I-4 Interchange
This week The Lane Construction Corporation, a leading builder of large-scale civil infrastructure projects, announced the company has won a $190 million contract to build a new interchange at I-4 and State Road 33 in Polk County.
In the official press release, Lane said winning the new I-4 contract “reinforces Florida as a key market” for the Charlotte-based company which has been building roads, bridges, airports and railways for over 130 years.
Lane says the new I-4/SR 33 interchange will feature the complete reconstruction of the existing interchange to accommodate additional lanes of traffic as well as a rail corridor in the center median for the next leg of the Brightline rail network connecting Orlando and Tampa.

H2M Announces Southeast Florida Expansion
This month H2M architects + engineers, an award-winning multidisciplinary consulting and design firm announced their expansion in Southeast Florida with the opening of a new office in Boca Raton.
