McCraney, WELBRO Commence Distribution Center Construction
McCraney Property Company, a leading developer and manager of office and warehouse distribution facilities throughout the Southeast, has commenced construction of a new distribution center in Lakeland near the Florida Polytechnic University campus.
Gary White writes in today’s Lakeland Ledger that the new facility will feature over 1 million square feet of warehouse space spread across four state-of-the-art warehouse buildings on the over 100-acre site adjacent to Interstate 4.
Maitland-based Welbro Building Corporation (WELBRO) was chosen as the General Contractor for the new facility which is strategically positioned between Orlando and Tampa near the intersection of I-4 and State Road 33.(Google Maps)
Other major warehouse facilities have been developed on the opposite sides of both I-4 and State Road 33 playing host to major logistics, medical and retail giants including Amazon, Haverty’s, HCA Lakeland, R+L Carriers, Walmart and Xpress Global Systems.

New Payment Bond Threshold for Georgia Public Works Contractors
A new state law that went into effect this month is good news for Georgia contractors specializing in public work projects.
The new legislation raises the contract value threshold for payment and performance bonds from $100,000 to $250,000.

Mill Creek Residential Announces Aventura Groundbreaking
This week Mil Creek Residential, a leading developer and owner-operator specializing in premier rental housing across the U.S., announced groundbreaking for Modera Aventura South, a contemporary mixed-use community.
The high-rise community, which will feature 251 homes and 2,510 square feet of ground-floor retail space, represents the second phase of Modera Aventura, which is projected to begin leasing in October. The original phase features 420 homes and 6,400 square feet of retail space.

E.R. Snell Awarded $57 Million Connector Project In Gainesville
This week the Georgia Department of Transportation (DOT) announced that Snellville-based E.R. Snell has been awarded the building contract for a major north-south highway connector project in Gainesville, Georgia.
According to the official press release, the Sardis Road Connector will be a four-lane, curb-and-gutter divided roadway with two travel lanes in each direction, separated by a 20-ft.-wide raised median. Sidewalks also will be constructed on both sides of the street, promoting safer pedestrian access and walkability.
The Georgia DOT describes the new 3.5 mile connector project as “a transformative transportation project aimed at improving mobility in Hall County.”
