$33 Million Expansion Will Expand StandardAero Footprint At AGS
This week StandardAero, a leading provider of business aircraft maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) services, announced a major expansion of its current facility at Augusta Regional Airport (AGS).
The company made the announcement in conjunction with the State of Georgia and the Augusta Economic Development Authority considering the positive impact the facility expansion will have on Richmond County in terms of new business and employment.
The planned $33 million investment will add an additional 80,500 square feet to the current 150,000-square-foot facility which was built in the 1970s when, as the VP of the Augusta facility pointed out, aircraft were much smaller.
“The new facility will add over 60% of new space to our existing footprint. The current facility was built in the 1970’s
,when aircraft were a lot smaller. It will allow us to support additional super mid-size to large cabin aircraft for airframe and avionics while also significantly expanding our engine shop to further support many of those aircraft.” – Chris Bodine, VP/GM of StandardAero AGS
Currently, StandardAero’s Augusta facility features a team of 175 technicians operating out of two hangars with four large bays, 4 engine shops, and specialty shops. StandardAero’s AGS facility is an authorized service center for Dassault Falcon Jets, Honeywell, Pratt & Whitney, Rolls Royce, Embraer and GE. The facility also services Challenger, Learjet, Cessna Citations, Hawkers and Gulfstreams.
In addition to supporting super mid-size and larger cabin aircraft, the new expanded MRO facility will give StandardAero’s Augusta team the ability to work on larger Dassault, Gulfstream and Bombardier aircraft while also meeting the needs of HTF7000 series engine operators.
The new expanded facility is scheduled to be complete by mid-2025.
AGS' Largest Business Development Announcement In Generations
While StandardAero executives emphasized the importance of being able to service larger aircraft, the head of Augusta Regional Airport used a superlative to describe the size and significance of this announcement for AGS.
“We are ecstatic about StandardAero’s expansion. This project is the largest business development announcement in generations. This expansion is a key building block for future Airport growth.” – AGS Executive Director Herbert L. Judon, Jr.
Originally founded in 1941 as a military flight training school during World War II, the Augusta Regional Airport today serves half a million commercial passengers annually with nonstop service to Atlanta (Delta) and Charlotte (American). AGS also serves as a base for general aviation operations as well as a military training facility for nearby Fort Gordon.
Georgia Ranks As Top 5 Exporter Of Aerospace Products
StandardAreo’s Augusta announcement was also good news for the Georgia Department of Economic Development (GDEcD) which touted the fact that Georgia is a Top 5 exporter of aerospace products.

In the official announcement, GDEcD Commissioner Pat Wilson clarified that StandardAero’s repair and maintenance operations are an important contribution to the state’s multi-billion dollar aerospace export number.
“Georgia exported $11.1 billion of aerospace products in 2023 alone. This includes products sent to Augusta for repair and maintenance before being shipped to international customers. We are excited that StandardAero will continue to be part of Georgia’s economic vitality, and congratulations to Augusta and Richmond County for creating an additional 90 new long-term jobs for Georgians.” -GDEcD Commissioner Pat Wilson
